Review: Suesh Makeup Brushes (Part I: Face Brushes)

Suesh Makeup Brushes

This is my personal collection of makeup brushes from Suesh. I didn't buy these brushes as a set. I know brushes come cheaper in sets, but I thought I'd get more out of my money if I actually buy the brushes that I want individually. That way, I got to pick the brushes that I really want instead of buying a whole set having some brushes that I don't really want/need. I purchased these brushes from Suesh's online store. The seller, Sheryll, is very accommodating to her clients.

I thought of purchasing brushes from Suesh when I was just starting to get addicted to makeup and wasn't sure I was ready to invest in high quality makeup brushes yet. I heard from someone that Suesh brushes are very affordable and are of decent quality as well.

As an overall review of the brushes, I could say that while they aren't the best out there, they're definitely good enough for their price. The brushes are generally shorter in size compared to MAC brushes. They're lighter too, but I actually really like how the handles feel. They don't feel like cheap plastic ones. I'm not sure what the handles are made of, but they've got a wood-y feel to them. I also like that the ferrules are black instead of the usual silver.

Now let's move on to the individual reviews!

  • Foundation Brush
I have mixed feelings about this brush. It's got soft hairs and does the job of applying foundation, but I'm not too fond of it. I find that the paddle isn't stiff enough and is a bit too flimsy and bendy, making it a bit harder to apply foundation. I find it more useful for blending out undereye concealer.

  • Stippling Brush
This is one of the Suesh brushes I was very disappointed with. Once again, the white hairs were just too soft and weren't stiff enough, making it impossible to stipple on foundation the proper way. And if that's not enough, this brush also sheds like CRAZY. Not a fan of that at all. I'll probably use this for other products like blush but it's definitely not a good brush for liquid foundation.

  • Flat Top Foundation Brush
I don't know why, but I have a hard time applying foundation with this brush. I find it easier to use this to blend out foundation once it has already been applied on my face. Even then, this brush doesn't make the blending process very smooth. The brush head feels a bit rubbery on my face. I do like that the hairs are very soft. I was just expecting a little more out of this brush because of its price.

  • Powder Brush
The hairs of this brush never gave me any problems. They're not that soft but I don't find them scratchy either. Personally, I find that the brush head isn't dense and fluffy enough. Of course, it really depends on the person and how much coverage they want. Also, the brush head is quite small. That may be a good or bad thing, depending on the person once again.

  • Kabuki Brush
This brush is probably my most favorite Suesh brush. Not only does it look very elegant with its red hair, but it's also extremely soft! I also love how very dense this brush is.
It's perfect for applying loose or pressed powder/foundation. I love love love this brush! It's got minimal shedding and does not bleed. The only thing I could say is I wish the handle were a little bit longer since sometimes it's hard for me to have a stable grip on this brush.

  • Mini Mini Flat Top Kabuki Brush
They weren't kidding when they called this brush "Mini" twice! It's so tiny! Even smaller than a tube of lip balm. But still, it's too cute to pass on!
The hairs are really soft, however I have a problem with shedding. Sheds like a cat! I'm not completely bothered by it though as I only use it when I need to touch up when I'm out of the house, and I rarely apply makeup outdoors. I do like that you can open up the brush and use it as a blush brush or to just cover a larger area on your face.
I also love that it comes with a free pouch! Not too bad. (Sorry, haven't washed the brush yet.)

  • Angled Blush Brush
This is another favorite Suesh brush of mine. Once again, very soft hairs and it also applies blush really well.

  • Contour/Bronzer Brush
I haven't used this brush for contouring yet since I've yet to master the art of contouring. I have, however, used this as a mineral foundation brush because of its flat top, and once again, no complaints! Soft hairs, doesn't scratch my skin.

  • Large Concealer Brush
I use this brush to apply concealer on my undereyes. Doesn't prick the sensitive skin on that area. However, I'm not exactly sure why, but over time, this brush got harder and harder to wash. I'm not sure if that's because of the brush or me, but it's just something that bothers me. Also, I've had this for about a year, and the hairs are already starting to become loose from the ferrule. Still, it's a very handy brush and great to apply and blend undereye concealer with.

  • Concealer Brush
This is their concealer brush but I actually like to use it more as a lip brush. I find the brush head too small to blend out concealer on my undereyes. It makes for a really great lip brush! Amazing price too.

That's it for the face brushes review! Hope you found this review helpful!
